Frequently asked questions
1.6T
What is the difference between the 1.6T 2xDR4 and the 1.6T DR8?
Both deliver 1.6 Tb/s across 8 lanes over 500 m SMF via Dual MPO-12/APC. The 2xDR4 features an integrated closed-fin top heat sink and a 32 W maximum envelope. The DR8 features a closed-top housing for cold-plate or riding-heatsink cages, a 25 W maximum power rating, and documented breakout to 2 x 800G DR4 or 8 x 200G DR.
What optical connector does the 1.6T module use?
Both 1.6T OSFP224 modules use a Dual MPO-12/APC optical receptacle supporting 16 active single-mode fibers (8 Tx and 8 Rx).
How many lanes does the 1.6T module use, and what modulation?
The 1.6T 2xDR4 uses 8 lanes of 200G PAM4 (106.25 GBd) on both host electrical and optical interfaces. The 1.6T DR8 operates at 8 lanes of 212.5G PAM4.
Why is 1.6T our primary focus?
1.6T OSFP224 optical transceivers are the critical bottleneck for next-generation AI GPU clusters and remain in tight global supply across fewer than twenty optical manufacturers.
What management and diagnostic telemetry does the 1.6T 2xDR4 support?
It implements CMIS with digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) for case temperature, 3.3 V supply, laser bias, Tx optical power, and Rx optical power, plus host/media loopback, PRBS generators and checkers, hitless CDB firmware upgrade, adaptive Tx equalization, and programmable Rx output swing.
How much power does the 1.6T module consume?
The 1.6T 2xDR4 has a maximum power rating of 32 W. The low-power silicon-photonics 1.6T DR8 closed-top module is rated at 25 W or less. Both operate from a single 3.3 V supply.
What reach and fiber does the 1.6T module support?
Both 1.6T OSFP224 modules reach up to 500 m over parallel single-mode fiber (OS2 SMF).
What wavelength does the 1.6T module operate at?
The 1.6T 2xDR4 operates at a 1311 nm center wavelength within the 1304.5 to 1317.5 nm O-band window. The 1.6T DR8 is specified at 1310 nm.
What is a 1.6T OSFP224 optical transceiver?
It is our flagship pluggable optical transceiver in the OSFP224 form factor that converts 8 lanes of 200G-class electrical signals to optical signals at 1.6 Tb/s aggregate throughput. We produce two configurations: the 1.6T 2xDR4 (32 W max, integrated heat sink) and the 1.6T DR8 (25 W or less, closed-top).
800G
How much power do the 800G OSFP modules consume?
The 4-lane 800G OSFP224 DR4 RHS is rated at 16 W or less, and the 8-lane 800G OSFP DR8 RHS, DR8 Finned-Top, and VR8 modules are rated at 16.5 W or less from a 3.3 V supply.
What optical connectors do the 800G modules use?
The 800G OSFP224 DR4 RHS uses a Single MPO-12/APC (8 fibers active, 500 m SMF). The 800G OSFP DR8 RHS and Finned-Top modules use a Single MPO-16/APC (500 m SMF). The 800G OSFP VR8 uses an MPO-12/APC interface over OM4 multimode fiber up to 50 m.
What is the difference between RHS and Finned-Top OSFP housings?
RHS stands for riding heat sink: the module top is flat so a spring-loaded switch-cage heat sink or liquid cold plate makes direct thermal contact. A Finned-Top or Integrated Heat Sink (IHS) module machines cooling fins directly into the top of the transceiver shell for front-to-back airflow switches.
What 800G OSFP modules do you manufacture alongside 1.6T?
Alongside our flagship 1.6T OSFP224 line, we manufacture four 800G OSFP modules in volume: the 4x200G-lane 800G OSFP224 DR4 RHS (16 W max, Single MPO-12/APC), 800G OSFP DR8 RHS MPO-16 (16.5 W max), 800G OSFP DR8 Finned-Top MPO-16 (16.5 W max), and 800G OSFP VR8 (850 nm OM4 up to 50 m).
